How med spas get higher-value treatment plans accepted, without pushing

Patients rarely say no to a good plan. They say no to a single price they did not expect, often at the front desk after the consult. Complete plans get accepted when the provider presents three options built on the same concern, the patient sees her own skin first and the price last, and the next session is booked before she leaves.

1. Present three options, not one

A lighter option, a balanced one, a complete one, all aimed at the same concern. She compares instead of refusing, and many choose the middle or the complete plan because they can see what each adds.

2. Skin first, price last

When the conversation opens with her own skin (what was measured, what can change), the price arrives as the answer to a problem she has just seen. Opened the other way round, it is just a number.

3. Spread the plan over months

A corrective course is a series, not a single visit. Showing it as sessions over several months makes the full course understandable, and makes the next date obvious.

4. Never go below your prices

Discounting in the room to close the sale teaches patients to wait for the discount. Build the options from your menu and your prices, and let the difference between options do the work.

5. The provider proposes, the desk books

A plan proposed by the front desk at payment time sounds like a sale. Proposed by the provider during the consult, it sounds like care. The desk’s job is to book the next session before she leaves and send the follow-ups in the clinic’s name.

What you can change tomorrow morning

  • End every consultation with a written plan: treatments, order, dates, price.
  • Offer three options on the same concern.
  • Book the next session before she walks out.
  • Give the same concern the same plan, whatever the day.

Doing it by hand, or with a tool

All of this works with paper and a calculator. It is hard to keep up on a busy day, which is why we built TheLab: three photos, three priced options from your menu, your validation, then the screen turned to the patient and the next session booked. More in consultation-to-treatment-plan software and what a clinic skin analysis app should do.

Frequently asked questions

Why do patients accept three options more easily than one price?

Because the question changes from yes or no to which one. Three options on the same concern let her compare what each adds.

Should the front desk present treatment plans?

It works better when the provider presents the plan during the consultation. The desk then books the next session and sends the follow-ups.

Does offering options mean discounting?

No. Build each option from your own prices. The difference between options does the persuading, not a discount.
